It's been several years since I've reviewed this one, and I've recently added a rating scale to my reviews, so I figured I'd go back and re-review the delicious Islay Whisky Snus! This year, in 2020, Islay Whisky Snus was in short supply. As of now, the portion versions have been out of production for months. The loose version recently came back in stock, so it's nice to have this one again. Of all the whisky products on the market, Islay is my favorite. Not so much for the whisky flavor, but mainly for the rich tobacco blend in this one.

The flavor description for Islay Whisky Loose says, "Islay Whisky is a loose snus with a delicious touch of whisky flavored from the Scottish Island of Islay! Islay Whisky loose snus is made of pure tobacco which guarantees the highest quality and best flavor experience. The tobacco is stored in whisky barrels and seasoned with whisky from the Scottish island of Islay". Each can weighs 50 grams. Yes, you read that correctly, 50 grams. Just like the good old days! The nicotine content on this one is 12mg/g (1.2%).
Even if you don't drink whisky, this is still a pretty solid snus. I don't drink whisky, and I really enjoy this one. This one has a rich, earthy, robust tobacco smell. There's hints of smoke, oak, and tones of whisky. The whisky is not the front runner in the flavor or aroma, it's more of a compliment to the tobacco taste. The loose is a lot easier to work with than I remember; it's a lot like Swedish Match loose! It's moist, soft, and really easy to bake. The flavor is delicious. The tobacco taste is the star of this snus. It's a rich, earthy tobacco flavor. There are hints of peat, a light smokiness, and subtle hints of oak. The whisky flavor is in the background, and not too overpowering. In terms of strength, it feels to be around the strong level when I bake 1-2g prillas, and the flavor lasts about 45 minutes, on average!
Rating and Final Thoughts
As I mentioned before, even if you don't like whisky, you can still enjoy this one, especially if you're a tobacco lover. This one rated at 4.33 out of 5 for me, which is a pretty high score when compared to most of my ratings. It's easily my favorite whisky snus, and really enjoyable for the rich, complex tobacco base it has. If you're a loose fan, this is one you don't want to miss out on. Especially because each can has 50 grams of loose snus goodness, just like the good old days!
